Reconciliation Action Plan
Ensuring that the recording of the history and the collection of artefacts from Kangaroo Valley is done with due respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander understanding.
The Kangaroo Valley Historical Society (Society) records the history associated with Kangaroo Valley, New South Wales, Australia and has a museum located in the township of Kangaroo Valley.
The Museum is a combination of buildings, some transferred from their original location, and some sympathetically constructed to those of the late 1800s. Many artefacts of the early settlement of Kangaroo Valley are on display in the Museum.
As a part of the Museum there are Aboriginal Artifacts that have been donated to the Museum and include some from Kangaroo Valley but the majority have been collected from tourist ventures all over Australia.
The Society has recognized the significance and heritage of the Aboriginal artefacts and wishes to acknowledge that heritage.
This Reconciliation Action Plan is the statement of the Society to ensure history and Museums items are recorded and displayed sympathetically with the Aboriginal Peoples of Australia.
